Sharing thoughts

Recently I was reading an interesting book about two men (writing as one) who had had a journey in discovering the wonder of God's ultimate and glorious plan for His creation. One of them commented that all his questioning had been because he had been taught to question - ask questions, ask questions fearlessly.
It has been my experience that many people do not like it when you ask questions, and become irritated when you do.
A wonderful example to me was a teacher who was here in Bartlesville for some years. I had the joy and privelege of telling stories to her classes...and one of the things I noticed was that she encouraged the children she taught to ask questions. Virginia Anderson was one of those rare teachers who encouraged the curiosity and questions of her students. Wonderful for them - she had them for three years, third through fifth grades.
However, not all shared that attitude. The mother of one of her students was called by a teacher at the junior high school (the student was now attending there). "Your daughter asks too many questions. She needs to stop." The wise mother replied, "I thought that that was what school was all about."
So, we need not fear asking questions, for through them we learn much. Which is why those two men, mentioned at the beginning of this writing, came to their understanding of the ways and purposes of God. They questioned the pat answers given by so many religious types, and even questioned God (He never minds, of course. In fact, I am sure He loves it!) What a difference it has made in how they view Him, and how they think of other people.
